Auto Insurance Coverages Explained

Bodily Injury Coverage

This coverage applies to injuries that you, the driver, cause to someone else. Other drivers, such as family or friends, are covered when driving your vehicle as long as they have your permission.

Medical Payments

This is coverage over and above PIP in which the insurer agrees to reimburse the insured and others, up to a certain limit, for medical or funeral expenses resulting from bodily injury or death by accident.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

PIP coverage pays for the treatment of injuries to you and your passengers. At its broadest, PIP covers medical payments, lost wages, and the cost of replacing services normally performed by the injured individual. It may also cover funeral expenses.

Property Damage Liability

This coverage pays for damage you (or someone driving your vehicle with your permission) may cause to the property of someone else.

Collision

Collision pays for damage to your car as a result of colliding with another vehicle or object, or as a result of flipping over.

Comprehensive

This coverage reimburses you for loss due to theft or damage caused by something other than collision. Examples include fire, falling objects, explosions, windstorms, hail, flood, vandalism, riot, or contact with an animal.

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist

This coverage reimburses you or a family member if you are hit by a driver with no insurance or insufficient insurance. It also covers hit-and-run accidents.

Rental Reimbursement

This coverage provides a rental car while your vehicle is being repaired due to a covered loss.

Roadside Assistance

This optional coverage varies by carrier. Please contact your agent for specific details.
